Why does the rich not give more and the poor give less in Exodus 30:15?

Answer From The Annual Reading Schedule - Week 18 Notes For Exodus: This is part of fairness and right-ruling. Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they will be required to pay more, but at the same time, there is an amount even the poor are being required to pay. This is keeping things fair in the eyes of Yahweh. The amount is probably set low enough to be bearable for the poor.
