Reading Notes
- We can see that the one who is poor is permitted to bring a different offering based upon what he is able to afford (Leviticus 14:21 and following verses). This is another example of how the law of Yahweh is the law that teaches us about mercy. Yahweh has chosen the poor of the world (James 2:5) and shows compassion towards the poor. He does not favor people more just because they are rich. This matches with what Yahushua said in Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42 about how compassion and love are part of the laws (Torah) of Yahweh. If we want to learn how to be compassionate, the laws of Yahweh will help us do just that.
- We can see that the stones with the plague are thrown out into an unclean place if the plague spreads. Similarly, we are stones in the spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5), and we do not want to enable bitterness, envy, strife, evil speech or anything else unclean that harms the body of Mashiach to spread. Just as the stones were removed and thrown into an unclean place, there are warnings given to us also so that we are not found outside the door knocking, and are not thrown into the same place as the unclean, receiving the same punishment. Yahweh wants His house to be clean. Also, the stones being replaced by other stones reminds me of Romans 11 which speaks of the wild branches not boasting against the natural branches, pointing out that if they were not spared we might not be either, unless we continue in His kindness.
