A brother in prison asked me a question related to what happens when people die. Here is my response to him below.
You asked do your relatives dream while dead or what do they feel. Basically it’s like being asleep except no I don’t think there is dreaming. It says:
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know naught, nor do they have any more reward, for their remembrance is forgotten.
So as far as I can tell the dead don’t really know anything and it’s like being asleep but I don’t think they have any dreams of any kind. I think they have no consciousness until the resurrection.
There are two resurrections – one when Yahushua returns for those who are forgiven and the second resurrection after he rules the earth for 1,000 years where others are resurrected to judgment. I base that on Revelation 2:11 and Revelation 20.
When we have eternal life we don’t “go to heaven”. First, when we die are rest in the ground or wherever our body is until his return. Then, when Yahushua returns this happens:
1 Thessalonians 4:16 Because the Master Himself shall come down from sky with a shout, with the voice of a chief messenger, and with the trumpet of Elohiym, and the dead in Anointed shall rise first.
4:17 Then we, the living who are left over, shall be caught away together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air – and so we shall always be with the Master.
So those who are dead rise first in spiritual bodies and go into the sky/heavens to Yahushua.
Then, those who are alive are transformed from live bodies into spiritual bodies and go into the sky/heavens to Yahushua.
Remember skies and heavens are the same word in Hebrew, they are not 2 different words.
THEN when Yahushua comes down, we come down with him:
Zechariah 14:5 And you shall flee to the valley of My mountain – for the valley of the mountains reaches to Atsal. And you shall flee as you fled from the landquake in the days of Uzziyah sovereign of Yehudah. And Yahweh my Elohiym shall come – all the set-apart ones with You.
1 Thessalonians 3:13 to establish your hearts blameless in set-apartness before our Elohiym and Father at the coming of our Adon Yahushua Anointed with all His set-apart ones!
Notice at the end of both verses “all the set-apart ones with you” and “with all His set-apart ones!”
Who are these set-apart ones? That’s me, that’s you, that’s all the ones who are forgiven and cleansed through the blood of Yahushua.
So yes, as 1 Thessalonians 4:17 says we shall “always be with” Yahushua – but where does Yahushua go? Does he stay up in Heaven or does he come down? He comes down on earth to rule and reign for 1,000 years from what I can see in the Scriptures. So if he comes down, we come down with him back to earth. And that’s why it says:
Psalms 37:11 But the meek ones shall inherit the land, And delight themselves in plenty of peace.
Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, because they shall inherit the land.
The word land here is probably sometimes translated as “earth” – the meek inherit the land – the earth. So we do not stay up in heaven, we come down to earth. Eternity is spent in a new earth/land/city however you want to look at it, that comes down out of the sky (Revelation 21:10). It doesn’t say “we go up into the sky” or “we go up into heaven” it says the city comes out of the sky from Elohiym.
